Staff partner with parents to help set and achieve family goals, and to develop and implement parent activities, parent education, center activities/events and fundraisers. Parents are encouraged to become involved in all components of the program, including providing input into the curriculum, their child’s individual learning plan and the menus. Health services provide review of medical health status, screenings for hearing and vision and parent education on good dental practices and the importance of dental exams and treatment. The program includes individualized leaning plans and screening and referral for cognitive and social/emotional developmental disabilities.Īttention is paid to the health needs of each child so that health issues do not interfere with learning and development. Both Councils have provided training for our staff and assisted us in community grants.The goal of the education component is to ensure children receive a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses all areas of their developmental needs. They have been a great support to all early childhood centers and especially Tri-County Head Start. We welcome the partnership of our Early Childhood Councils MECC and ECC La Plata.They are your voice at each site and we thank them for their time and talents. The hard working Policy Council members, that were voted in by the parent committees, have participated in the monthly meetings. Fundraisers are in full swing and parents are excited to support the program. This program year each site's monthly Parent Committee meetings have had increased participation.Over the next few years, we will continue to increase the salaries for our hard working teachers. We will welcome you, the parent (guardian), into the classroom. TCHS was awarded a 2017/18 Cost of Living Adjustment for classroom teachers. We are excited to see new climbing structures, outdoor chimes and drums, nature bowls and other play items. This includes new flooring, a new toddler classroom, upgrades to the kitchen and a new roof.
